WebbFirst, I doubt you need a small base die. I load for competition. I use a full length Lee die and I haven't had problems. It sounds like you have the die set up correctly. Load up five dummy rounds (no powder or primer) and cycle them through your gun. If they cycle, I'd say your gauge is on the small side of the spec.
